USCIS recently updated its procedures to help clear the backlogs to work authorizations (EAD cards) by discontinuing the issuance of the EAD/Advanced Parole card. Previously, a noncitizen could obtain one card that held the travel document AND the work authorization. However, with the pandemic and ensuing backlogs, the decision to separately process each document occurred.
