A Brief Introduction

I knew I wanted to run my own business from a young age. The journey to my law practice twisted through a winding road spanning 20 years of professional development that the universe seemingly dropped in my lap by happenstance. I held leadership roles in all facets of business, including communications, marketing, operations, compliance, and non-profit fundraising. I managed a talent agency, and a bank, ran merch tables for bands, and eventually found myself in a room with the likes of Oprah, Robin Williams, Jack Nicholson, and every A-list celebrity imaginable and managing sponsors for a major film festival. The journey took me through Boston, Orlando, Los Angeles, and back to Green Bay.

Serendipity brought it all together In 2017. The year began with me volunteering for weeks to coordinate lawyers worldwide to help those affected by the travel ban. 2017 ended in Ireland after losing my job to an office closure and seeking inspiration for the direction of my firm. There, the pieces all fell into place -- My love for music and the arts. My unflinching desire to help people. My array of expertise and experience. Through run-ins with locals over pints and coffees, Your Virtual Advocate was born -- Synchronizing my passions for the law, art, music, small businesses, and travel into a law practice built to provide access and support to creatives and entrepreneurs.

Expertise includes immigration, entertainment, copyright, trademark, constitutional issues, federal election law, and business operations. I take pride in my subscription-based general counsel services to creative professionals, “Creators LegalScription,” which provides peace of mind to Creatives for less than one billable hour per month.

My breadth of experience is vital to offering exceptional, wide-ranging legal services and a unique perspective to clients. I often earn praise for my responsiveness, common sense, and out-of-the-box approaches to challenging issues.

My work with social issues and combating misinformation fuels my passion. I believe preserving our democracy is fundamentally important. I support efforts to protect and expand ballot access and regularly volunteer in voter protection efforts.

Known for my transparency, honesty, compassion, and pursuit of social justice, I am a frequent traveler and love to immerse myself in other cultures and adventures. I enjoy sampling local flavors, brews, and music and have a soft spot for Dogs and Guinness.

I believe in equal access to justice and the legal system.

This is why I became an attorney.

This is a driving force behind my business model of limited scope legal representation and the virtual law firm.

These two factors allow reduced fees and less burdensome methods to meet with an attorney, resolve legal matters, or get the help needed in self-representation.

My professional background is comprised of over 20 years of legal, compliance, managerial,
project and client relationship management experience. This background includes
in-house and law firm experience handling civil litigation cases, negotiating
and drafting agreements, handling licensing, privacy and data security matters,
advising on customer complaints and fraud investigations, analyzing complex
research, providing risk assessments, and managing teams.

I have managed talent as the director of a model and talent agency in Orlando and Los Angeles, facilitated corporate
partnerships for AFI FEST, and volunteered with civil rights organizations.
My exposure to a variety of business functions makes me well-suited to assist
small businesses with their legal challenges or risks.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Suffolk University in Boston in 2004.
I received my Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law in Orlando in 2012.
During law school, I studied international intellectual property law at University College Dublin
and received a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.
I was the Vice President of the American Constitution Society chapter at Barry Law.
I am licensed to practice law in Washington State.

Aside from my love of all things entertainment and law, I love to travel.
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and lived in Boston, Orlando, and Los Angeles.
My current second home is in Dingle, Ireland, where I've spent time this
past year getting to know and love the town and its people, and particularly
its  traditions and artistic community.

Above all, I cherish loyalty, open communication and integrity.  I always keep these traits in the
forefront of a business relationship, holding myself and others to high standards.
